Attn: Prospective Officials
Greetings to All!
As we continue to grow and attend more competitions, teams will begin to ask us for participation in running swim meets.
Providing volunteers ("officials") to help organize and run swim meets is mandatory for competing teams, however because this is only our second year within Swim Ontario there is some leniency.
In order to be eligible to volunteer, parents must register with the Ontario Swimming Officials Association. Through the OSOA, parents and/or family members can register for clinics and attain certification.
We would like to invite you to explore the OSOA website, www.osoa.ca. This site will go into detail about the levels and process of becoming certified.
There are upcoming officials clinics all over Ontario that would be very informative and beneficial our parents, and this a great way to become involved in your child's sport. It's not difficult either, and there are two upcoming opportunities to take the Level 1 Timekeepers Certification locally. (Being hosted by Brock on Sept. 28th and again on Oct. 20th).
Please let Coach Beth know if you're interested and she can help navigate you through the process. Also, if you're new to the club and have certification please let the coaches know!
Have a *swimtastic day* and we'll see you on deck!

Sadly, she lost her battle with Borderline Personality Disorder in 2011 at the age of 20. Sashbear is an organization that was created in her memory, with the goal of raising awareness about BPD and mental health.
Sashbear stresses how important it is for athletes to feel supported throughout the inevitable ups and downs both in and outside of the pool. When the stress is too much, they want athletes to feel OK about reaching out for help.
PLEASE NOTE: ESPN is scheduled to send a film crew to this event as a part of an "Outside the Lines" story on Sasha and her legacy.
We are entering our members in relays as a show of support for this cause.
