Welcome to Day 4 of our 2016 HAC / GCAC Arizona Training Trip!
The kids are hoping today will be easy.... We said, "easier" :)
The little ones get to have the morning off to recover....lucky! |
The guys chowing down... we got to sleep in more than usual! Yeah! |
It's nice to eat breakfast when the sun's out! English muffins, eggs and cereal! |
They're moving slowly this morning! |
The last two finally came down to eat! |
I'm NOT joking... dryland this morning before our first swim was the toughest ever! Carmen & I did it too. (It was awful, I wanted to runaway and hide!) How they can handle this and then swim for two hours after, completely impressed me. They're definitely toughening up. They can barely move at home, but they are rocking it! |
We had LC practice this morning! It was fantastic, great set up for a recovery swim.
Today was the coldest day (73F, I know right...); Coach Carmen and I
even had to like wear our sweaters. What the heck! | | | | | |
The pool is gorgeous under the sun!
The view from the high dive, compliments of Daniel... brave soul! |
"Daniel, OMIGOSH what are you doing? That's SO high!".... (Ava) |
... literally 2 seconds later... |
What little daredevils! Our girls are all grown up now! |
Team stretch after workout... we made milkshakes! |
Brittany + Ava + Lauren + Virag + Emma + Sydney + Caitlin + Sara... (I think, LOL) |
Carmen driving us back from the pool! |
All loaded up! We all fit in the van, minus the little ones + Brenden (sick)... |
You can't tell, but those are orange trees! |
| | | |
Virag and Brittany climbed up a tree last night and brought some home...
they were so incredibly bitter we couldn't eat them, but they smelled delicious.
The following are some views we see everyday on route home from the pool! |
This is what lines the highways :) (The city must save a fortune on hydro.) |
Prime commercial market space...lots of room for a pool there :) |
We could start the Desert City Aquatic Club (DCAC)! Ha!
Wait... what?!?!? Is that REAL grass? |
There's a little park close to home, so pretty eh? |
The view of the neighborhood. All the houses are the same color! |
Watching 'The Flash' on Netflix after lunch... |
Is this our practice, or is this for the other team?... (that's not here?) |
I don't understand why nobody wanted to play shadow puppets with me... |
The blocks are personalized! How cool is that? |
We got to put pool covers on at the end of practice! It was a team effort, we did 8 of them! |
The pool was built 1.5 yrs ago by the school with private donations. (8M for two tanks!) |
They keep the temp of the pool at 79 degrees, and the air temp drops so much at night that the last user group(s) have to cover the pool(s) at night, and the first user group(s) [usually masters] have to uncover them every morning. If the pool's only being half used, they keep the other side covered during the day. Who would have thought?!?!? We're so lucky we don't have to do all that... but then again we'd also be in Phoenix, AZ. Pool covers or living in Arizona, hmm tough call :)
Tortellini and broccoli and cauliflower for dinner, the kids were starving! |
The kids loaded up their plates and we made them finish every bite! We don't waste food here!
Oh, and we finally found some chocolate milk! It won't last very long LOL!
