2015 Joanne Malar Invitational

HISTORY
Joanne Malar is one of the Hamilton Aquatic Club's most successful athletes. This swim meet is named in her honour. She began with the club at an early age and quickly moved up the ranks, setting national records at all ages along the way, with many of her records still standing to this day. She competed in 3 Olympic Games, making it to the finals 5 times! She has won over 70 international medals, including gold medals at the Pan American Games in 1995, 1999, 2003, the Pan Pacific Games in 1999, the Commonwealth Games in 1998. She was ranked number one in the world in 1995-1996 and 1999-2000!

FACILITY
One 50m 6-lane pool with a scoreboard!
There is ample spectator seating, and parking fees are applicable. The viewing area is very warm so parents please wear light clothing, pack extra water, and you might want to bring a spray fan if you have one!

Warm-up~7:00-7:55am / Start~8:00am
MEET FEES
$10.00 coaching fee
$7.00 swimmer splash fee
$9.00 per individual events
$11.00 per distance events

AWARDS
INDIVIDUAL EVENTS: ribbons for 1st-6th places;
HIGH POINT TROPHY: for each age + gender classification
(10 & Under, 11s, 12s, 13s, 14s, 15 & Over)
SPECIAL NOTES
-ONE START rule, one false start is a DQ!
-Please bring a lock to store your valuables in the locker room!
-Meet management reserves the right to enter 2 swimmers/lane for the 400m and 800m free events if necessary to meet the session time limits!
-The shallow end of the pool will be available for warm down the entire meet! -Distance event heats will be swum fastest to slowest!
-Food is not permitted on the pool deck!
-600m Free Eliminator:
-Freestyle event, 600m elimination race.
-Last swimmer to make contact with the wall is eliminated.
-The last swimmer to make contact with the wall at 200m is eliminated.
-Swimmers will be granted 30s rest before the next 100m.
-Race will be restarted after each interval.
-Swimmers will be eliminated after each 100m until the race is done & only 1 remains.
-The final 2 will be placed in the middle lanes for the final 100m meters.
-Elimination will be based on the time for each interval; that is the last one to touch.
-In the event of a tie, there will be a 50m free swim off!
